CRITICAL APPRAISAL OF evidence and knowledge is required to improve nursing practice,
care processes, and patient outcomes (
Stevens, 2011
). Moreover, evidence-based practice (EBP) leads to the highest quality health outcomes
(
Melnyk and Fineout-Overholt, 2011
), and improved health outcomes for children and their families (
Hockenberry and Wilson, 2011
). Clinical nursing research is conducted to expand nursing knowledge to improve practice
(
Polit and Beck, 2012
). Translating research evidence into everyday practice and the implementation of
EBP projects provide a mechanism for improving the quality of care for children and
their families, as well as advancing pediatric nursing practice. Evidence from research
translated into pediatric nursing practice enhances the quality of care to improve
health outcomes for children and their families (
