Caring for children is the primary focus of pediatric nursing – the health and well-being
of children is the central priority. Pediatric nurses provide care for children while
developing partnerships with parents and working with families to ensure that children's
needs are met. Pediatric nurses play an essential role in improving child health outcomes
regardless of setting or diagnosis. Pediatric nurses promote health and enhance coping
of children and their families by creating a supportive environment while advocating
for children's needs (

). Through nursing research and quality improvement projects, pediatric nurses generate
evidence and develop intervention strategies to improve the quality of care for children
and their families. In this way, improvements in pediatric nursing care not only enhance
children's health and well-being, but also result in advances in pediatric nursing
